Special Events

Second grade is off to such a good start. What wonderful children who are so excited about learning! We are studying the first chapters of Genesis in Bible, memorizing addition facts in math, spelling short vowel words, learning about communities in Social Studies, putting end marks on sentences in English, studying nutrition in Science, and reviewing the stroke sequence of letters in penmanship. We are busy!

The children's papers are marked with a star on lessons worked on together in class. Individual assessment is marked with a letter grade. The number wrong from each side is combined for a total. The total is circled at the top of a page. I want them to show their work on the math story problems to show how they arrived at the answer. Don't leave the box empty! We'll work on that!

The children are tired by the end of the day. So am I! We will get used to our new schedule. I am strict about children being on task and listening quietly during instruction time. It is for their educational benefit! Those who pay attention learn the most! Please talk about the importance of this with your child. Also discuss the need for them to ask questions if they do not understand a lesson. Good communication is so helpful.

I am so thankful for each special child in our class!

Mrs. Bonnema

Psalm 78:1-4 O my people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in parables, I will utter hidden things, things from of old- what we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.
