I’ll admit - seeing the first draft of the “Central Parent Directory” each year makes my heart do a little flip as I look at the collective list. Each family name represents freshly made summer memories and new experiences, but for some, real struggles are represented, too. As a leadership team, we’re keenly aware of both as we’ve already celebrated with some individuals and cried with others. We’ve been placed together this year, staff, new and existing families, “…for such as time as this” as scripture says. It’s not coincidence; it’s a divine appointment!
As we expand our circles of friendship, get to know each other, and share about our ups and downs alike, our transparency becomes contagious and mutually beneficial. It’s overwhelming and discouraging to journey through parenting and life experiences alone. But in community and through God’s strength, however, it’s do-able! So let’s stretch ourselves this year to be available to each other. In order to have a friend – we have to be one. Let’s be a strong, open Central family this year! “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” – I Thessalonians 5:11
