Paramore was formed in Franklin, Tennessee in 2004.  After several lineup changes, the band now consists of Hayley Williams, Josh Farro, Jeremy Davis and Zac Farro.  Hayley Wiliams and Josh Farro are the group’s primary songwriters.

Prior to forming Paramore, members of the band were “edgy to the whole female thing” but it “eventually worked out”.  The band was officially formed by brothers Zac and Josh Farro, Jeremy Davis and Hayley Williams, and then later added Jason Rynum.  They took on the name Paramore, which is derived from a friend’s mother’s maiden name.  They soon learned the meaning of the identically sounding word paramour (“secret lover”), and decided to adopt the name, using the Paramore spelling.

In 2005, the band released their first album, All We Know Is Falling, in 2005.  The album gained fans through touring and Internet promotion of the singles “Pressure” and “Emergency”.

In 2007 they released their second album, Riot!  The first single was “Misery Business” and has received wide radio airplay and MTV featured the band in Artist of the Week segments during August 2007.

Over the following years, Paramore performed at concert festivals, Purple Door and Warped Tour.

John Janick, CEO and co-founder of the music label Fueled by Ramen, heard Paramore’s demos and went to a Taste of Chaos performance in Orlando, Florida to see them perform live.  After a smaller performance at a warehouse, the band was signed to the label in April 2005.

The band also covered Foo Fighters’ song, “My Hero” for the Sound of Superman soundtrack, released June 26, 2006.

Paramore’s first headlining tour began on August 2, 2006 to a sold-out audience.  That year they were voted “Best New Band” by readers of the British magazine Kerrang!.

On December 31, 2007, Paramore performed on the MTV New Years Eve program.

The band has also been nominated for “Best New Artist” at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards.
